News reaching AYV indicates that the formerly suspended Director General of National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) Maxwell Massaquoi has resumed work.
This is according to NATCOM Commissioner Joseph Sannoh who doubles as CEO Heal Sierra Leone. In a snap telephone interview yesterday with this reporter, Mr. Sannoh in response to a question whether Mr. Maxwell had actually returned to work, simply replied “yes, he started work today” but did not elaborate.
It could be recalled that the NATCOM DG sometime in December 2019 faced the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication to answer to certain questions following allegations leveled against him about misappropriation of funds among other allegations.
He was initially suspended for a month for the investigation to go unimpeded. However, after several weeks of denials and counter-denials, he has now returned to continue his work at NATCOM.
It could further be recalled that at a recent press conference, Minister of Information and Communication, Mohamed Ramadan Swaray (Rado) denied the allegation that he orchestrated the suspension, and that the suspension order came from the NATCOM Board members, adding that his own role was to give advice to the Board.
