Deaconess Salamatu Conteh Foundation in partnership with Colonel Kemoh Sesay and Africell mobile company have provided educational items to about 90 pupils of Kailahun district Education Committee Primary School in Daru Kailahun district. Head Teacher Kailahun district Education Committee Primary School, Momoh Lahai said most of the pupils are vulnerable from either being orphans or having single parent.

Strategically placed in Daru Kailahun district, the Kailahun District Education Committee Primary School is the oldest school within the district. The need for its establishment in 1942 by the chiefdom committee was to cater for deprived and under privileged children within the District.

Head Teacher Kailahun District Education Committee Primary School, Momoh Lahai said the school is owned and controlled by the district and that they are been supported by the government.

According to him they appreciate the items provided for the people as it will cushion ordeals faced by parent to purchase school and learning materials for their children.

“Most of the children in our school are vulnerable and some are even from one parent family. The items provided for them will go a long way with them to continue their schooling’’ he said.

Deaconess Salamatu Conteh Foundation established about a year ago aims to fulfil the dreams of the Deaconess Salamatu Conteh to support under privileged children in the country. The foundation since its establishment according to the Deputy Chairman, Rev. Francis Sesay has also been providing support to other school which is in line with actualizing the dreams of late Deaconess Salamatu Conteh.

“What we are witness here today was the dreams of Late Deaconess Salamatu Conteh to help the underprivileged children gained access to formal education, thereby contributing to the future of these children and by extension the country as a whole’’ he said.

He furthered the beneficiaries to take their academics serious as life can be very much challenging with or without education but that with their determined heart the sky will be their limit.

Quality Education is the flagship project of the Bio’s administration. The project among other entails school fees, infrastructure, school feeding, furniture and provision of learning materials which many say is not forth-while. In a moment like this how does it complement the FQSE? Ansuman Kamara is the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education’s School supervisor in Kailahun district he said the support is an excellent gesture towards the FQSE particularly in the district.

Public Relations Officer of Deaconess Salamatu Conteh Foundation Major Mahmoud Papa Conteh said the foundation is registered as a charity to support under privileged children, noting that the education items provided ranges from books, pen, textbooks among others.

He added that they targeted 90 children in the school to benefit from the scheme, adding that they hoping to continue with the scheme depending on the support they receive from other people just like the one they received from Africell.
