Funeral ceremony was was held on 17th October, 2022 for victims of the August 10 violent unrest. The ceremony was held at Bolima in Waterloo, near Freetown.

Earlier, Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio issued specific instructions for all the victims to be given dignified funeral ceremonies, and buried in separate graves.

It can be recalled that the Government of Sierra Leone has earlier established a special investigation committee to fully probe into the recent unrest that led to the killings of six police officers and several civilians.

The Committee is examining the immediate and underlying causes, sources of financing, execution, consequences of the unrest, and the response of security forces, according to the government public notice.

The August 10 violent unrest affected parts of Freetown, Makeni and Kamakwie in the North. Six serving police officers and 27 civilians lost their lives.
