Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Joseph Ndanema said that the meeting with stakeholders is to prepare them for the launching of community reforestation and afforestation programs, stating that they will be planting trees where there are no trees and replanting of trees that have been cut down.

Mr. Ndanema maintained that they are aware that the ministry has the mandate to provide food security for the nation. He disclosed that the meeting will ensure sustainable forestry and biodiversity management and conservation of our forest ecosystem.

“It is necessary for us in this country to pay attention to our environment,” Ndanema said, adding that, in the natural sense, God created human beings to rely on the forest because it helps them to live a better life and breathe fresh air.

According to Mr. N’danema they will be planting different types of trees which people will be benefitting from, adding that they will be inviting people to plant trees for them to be aware about the importance of living in or close to a forest even within the city.

“We will formulate policy as ministry and present it to parliament for it to bind us together so that we can be able to maintain a good environment,” Ndanema said.
