The Susan B Foundation has completed a one-day Seminar for over five hundred youth within Constituency 109 in the Western Area Rural District, with the theme: ‘Helping Our Youth Change.’

The Seminar was aimed to sensitise the young people, both men and women on the negative effects of harmful drugs, especially Kush and Cannabis Sativa (Jamba) and alcohol.

Key among topics discussed during the Seminar was the need for young people to wise up against politicians using drugs and alcohol on young people to influence favour.

Founder and Executive Director, Susan B Foundation, Susan Fatmata Bundu said: “I don’t believe in giving alcohol and harmful drugs to our youth but teach, educate and motivate them to become better citizens of this great nation. I gave positive advice to the young people on the negative effects of Kush, Jamba and other harmful drugs. We also used the seminar as an opportunity to train the young people how to become self-confidence, self-reliant, improve their knowledge on effective communications, building relationship and building confidence, and to also engage themselves in something beneficial that will make their future bright and self-sufficient and independent”.

In addition, Mrs. Bundu went on, during the seminar, the young people were discouraged from allowing politicians to use and misused them with small money and harmful drugs which will not contribute in anyway positive to their future.

The Seminar Mrs. Bundu concluded, thought the youth lessons on how to be good people and parents in society, and to also respect elders and authorities.

In another development, the Foundation organised feeding and partying for hundreds of children within the Constitution as part of its Christmas celebration.

During the event, the children were taught lessons on what Christmas is about, respect for parents, teachers and elders, how to fear and pray to God and most importantly, topics on some of the subjects they offer at school.

The event also gave the children the opportunity to showcase their talent, kindness, affection and happiness for their peers.

“Every year we aim to share the delight of the Christmas season by bringing smiles to the faces of underprivileged children in the Constituency. We are happy that this year again the Susan B Foundation will do our bit in giving back to society and create an unforgettable experience for these underprivileged children” Mrs. Bundu stated.

This year’s feeding programme benefited close to a thousand kids who also took home with them Christmas gifts.
