Additionally, some of the students have attended international conferences, including President Obama’s conference on women. The best and brightest of this graduating class will be selected to pursue a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW), which will start in the 2015-16 academic year. Currently, the Department has 749 students – the largest in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law.

Furthermore, the Department has received a three-year 30,000 pounds sterling grant from the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) to fund research on disability and social services in Sierra Leone.

The grant will also fund student scholarships in the Department. Sierra Leone is only one of four African countries: Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya to be awarded the grant. The Department also serves as the national center for DIFID’s Persons with Disabilities Project.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2016!
