He reiterated that the ministry requires highly skilled personnel which are vital for them to know what is happening around the world, improve on their proficient among other additional training. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the people of China for giving the 16 of opportunity to learn in China, adding that the nurses will be spending between two to four weeks based on the type of course.

He added that the main aim of the course is to improve on infant care saying that he visited the children’s referral Ola During Hospital and observed that there is a large number of nurses that can serve in a primary health care facility.

He informed the gathering that the country has done well with regards to immunization but than in the boundary districts like Kabala, Kambia and Pujehun, they tend to lose large numbers, adding that they should think of health as a global security by protecting one and protecting all or by missing one and missing all.

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Amara Jambai described the event as a benevolent to the health care delivery for nurses to move from where they are by giving them opportunity for more training.

He told the nurses that they are going to China to represent Sierra Leone and one way to do that is by acquiring the knowledge for them to come home and impact on the lives of the future generation.

Dr. Jambai further stated that they are training them to be better leaders for tomorrow and they should be grateful to the Chinese government for according them this opportunity.  He called to them to go in peace, learn well and come back in peace to serve the nation. He added that they want to always make this an opportunity so that they can maintain and sustain health care in the country.
