Two Sierra Leoneans, Alpha Brima Timbo, a staff of the Intelligence and Investigations Unit of the Sierra Leone Immigration Department, and of 2 Timbo Drive Avenue, Gloucester, Freetown, and Clifford Bola Thomas, an Intelligence Officer, in the Intelligence and Investigations Unit of the Sierra Leone Immigration Department and of 13 Syke Street, Freetown have been banned from ever holding public offices in Sierra Leone.

Pursuant to Section 7 (1) (b) of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment Act), 2019, the two citizens entered into a Non-Prosecution Agreement with the ACC after recovering the total sum of Thirty Thousand Leones from them, and a further 20% interest on the said sum – amounting to Six Thousand Leones in full.

The Commission has also imposed a 3-year ban precluding them from holding public office in Sierra Leone effective immediately.

This follows the Commission’s investigation into the matter involving the failure of Alpha B. Timbo and Clifford B. Thomas to make payments they received for the issue of Residence Permits to five persons, totalling the total sum of Thirty Thousand Leones. They are deemed to have misappropriated same.

Alpha B. Timbo and Clifford B. Thomas have paid to the Commission the full amount misappropriated plus 20% interest and as a result of this, are further banned from holding any public office in Sierra Leone for a minimum of three years, Pursuant to Section 7(1) (b) (i) & (ii) of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment act), 2019.

The Immigration Department, therefore, will be notified and must dismiss them from their respective public service posts immediately.
