The orientation was organized by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery Services.

Addressing the newly certified State Registered Nurses, the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation 1, Madam Madina Rahman reminded the nurses about the dress code of the profession and commended them for choosing to be a nurse because of the passion they have for the job.

She informed them that the nursing profession is a calling and thankless job that needs courage, commitment and compassion, adding that the sky is their limit to know their strength, do the right thing and save lives.

Madam Rahman said that the love of the country should be more paramount for nurses, adding that they as primary health giver must be patriotic by saving lives rather than the urge for money.

She pleaded to them to be the change that the Ministry wants by making the difference and reiterated the need for commitment and dedication to service.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. David Banya stressed the relevance of the code of ethics of the nursing profession not only their responsibilities and obligations but also to know about their rights and privileges.

The Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Matron Hossinatu Koroma, reminded them that nursing is a noble profession for which they are expected to upkeep the ethics and code of conducted of the profession by setting the pace for others to follow.

She reiterated that as health professionals, they should adhere to the Civil Service Code of Ethics and the Code of Ethics of the nursing profession.

The Director of Human Resource for Health, Mr. Edward Kwame Yankson congratulated the newly recruited nurses and admonished them to be committed to service.
