One of the Most Inspiring and Influential Young Sierra Leoneans and Youth Ambassador, she launched her career into broadcasting in 2009 at age 17 starting as a Disk Jockey at Eagle Africa Radio, entertaining listeners of community radio stations. The young Phebe quickly climbed the ladder and in 2010/2011 she was the only female club DJ in Freetown – DJ Swill. Not long after, she took up news reading for distinguished radio stations while also serving as Mistress of Ceremony for entertainment galas. The rest they say is history.
Phebean is today a presenter and news anchor at Africa Young Voices (AYV) television and radio. Prior to this she worked as radio/television presenter, producer and reporter for various local and international media institutions like; Capital Radio, Free Radio, Star Radio and Television, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) radio and television and Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM in Sierra Leone and Lagos, Nigeria. Phebe Swill is today the indisputable Queen of the mic and camera; a solid broadcaster and household name in Sierra Leone and beyond, a talented and sensational actress and passionate entrepreneur.
The Phebe Swill Show which broadcasts on AYV television is the viewers’ favorite entertainment and lifestyle TV talk show that discusses various issues ranging from social to other relevant human-interest issues and topics, while entertaining its audience.
The Phebe Swill Foundation is a mentorship platform for young people and has touched the lives of many secondary school pupils and university students. Under the Foundation, Ambassador Phebean makes school tours to various secondary schools, hosts public lectures, teaching career path choices, positive use of social media, leadership amongst other things. Her foundation also supports commercial sex workers to transition into business women and get off the streets through training, seed capital and business management mentorship.
Phebean also runs a media and entertainment company WOW Studios which produces strategic media contents that draw attention to major issues affecting women, girls and youths.
For using her platform to raise up issues affecting women, girls and young people, Phebean is proudly but humbly a recipient of several local and international awards and recognition. Phebean was decorated with the title of Youth Ambassador in 2019 by the National Youth Commission when she was awarded as One of the 100 Most Influential Sierra Leoneans by FePYoCAN.
Phebean Swill is a Mandela Washington Fellow 2021, a member of the International Leadership Association and a Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme Alumna 2019. She is a super talented lady, efficient, diligently professional that is passionately dedicated to her craft. A worthy role model to many youths.
Phebe was the host of the first ever reality TV show in Sierra Leone – Big Sister Salone, host of the first Miss Correctional, co-host of the biggest reality TV show in Sierra Leone – Housemates Salone, co-host of the biggest musical festival in the subregion – Ecofest, and several other entertainment and corporate events.
