Delivering the keynote address at the launching of the e-governance network, President Ernest Bai koroma said that with the advent of the e-governance, citizens will no longer have to wait in long queues to access any information they want that anchored on a paper based system adding that the introduction of the e-governance would provide access to information and also integrate ICT into the Government’s Agenda for prosperity.

 He thanked World Bank and other international partners for providing supports  to Government for introducing   e-governance  which he said  is part of the ECOWAN Project and  appealed to all Sierra Leoneans to take full advantage of the opportunity  given to them

Seda Pahlavooni, e-governance , ICT Policy and Strategy Specialist  at World Bank congratulated President  koroma and his government for achieving such a  success affirming that the e-governance network would  enhance  service delivery for both the  public and private sector and  called on  Government to continue to partner with the World Bank Group for sustainability and improvement of the network.

Dr. Ernest Surrur Secretary to Cabinet and also head of Civil Service, said the e-governance platform would provide an ICT environment with the necessary e-services and applications to effect proper coordination and transaction between inter-Government agencies, business Houses and citizens participation in government for transparency and also avoid over expenditure.

A power point presentation on the benefits of e-governance network in Sierra Leone was done by Mohamed Jalloh.

 

It is expected that with the Introduction of ICT it would motivate Sierra Leoneans to move to the era of electronic governance aimed at creating transparency, accountability and making use of timely information.
