According to the 1972 Wild Life Conservation Act, no activity shall be undertaken in the National Park without prior authorization of the National Protected Area Authority (NPAA). Lavallie happens to be one if those Surveyors and some Officials in the Ministry of Lands that have been pressurizing the tropical rain forest despite all the laws that forbid them from sharing the forest for housing.

Lavallie was later release on a Le10, 000, 000 (ten million Leones) bail at the Lumley Police Station. The Police at Lumley have confirmed that he will be charged to court. The 1972 Conservation Act gives the Magistrate the powers to fine and give sentences as those of the powers of the High Court. If found guilty, Lavallie will face a sentence of three years in prison and or a fine of Le5, 000, 000 (five million Leones).

 

It can be recalled that 36 persons have been convicted for similar crime; Kenema District records the highest of which 27 persons are arrested and convicted for evading the Gola Forest.
