While disagreeing with the submission that was made by the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Dixon said the report from the parliamentary investigation led by Hon. Binneh Bangura unearth that the Information Minister spent some three billion leones on travelling.  He went further to describe such undertaking as an act of blatant corruption.

Dixon was summoned to parliament yesterday to make clarification on his assertions.

The Clerk of Parliament, Mr. Ibrahim S. Sesay said parliament was concerned over the statements of Dixon, especially when the journalist claim that his facts emanated from parliament.

The Clerk insisted that the matter before parliament was inconclusive and that publications on the hearing are premature.

Dixon accepted that his report was erroneous and agreed to do a retraction and apology on his newspaper after doing same in parliament.

President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) Kelvin Lewis toed the line of Dixon to apologize to the parliamentarians on behalf of Dixon and the Station Manager of Radio Democracy, Asmaa James Kamara.

He said after perusing the parliamentary report, it was noticed that the three billion leones in question was not expended by the minister alone but by the entire ministry.

The House of Parliament agreed to tamper justice with mercy after the apologies and called on the journalists to always endeavor to crosscheck their facts before publication.
