The SLP Media Team wishes it to be known that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is in possession of two separate medical reports which clearly show that the young man sustained stab wounds as opposed to the information widely peddled on social media that he was shot.

Be further informed that the CID is presently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, with the view to determining the perpetrator(s) of the act, the circumstances leading to the incident and also what precipitated or could have precipitated the act.

The Sierra Leone Police continues to rely on the general public to at all times provide the Institution with credible information, as it embarks on its drive to nab and unearth perpetrators of crimes in society. This appeal came as the backdrop that if the public resolves to assist and cooperate with the SLP with credible and timely information, its work would be much easier to achieve.

It is undeniable, that the SLP, given its numerical strength, cannot, in any way, be found in or at all places, at all times. Hence, the reasoning behind the introduction of community policing (otherwise referred to as Local Needs Policing in the Sierra Leone context) during the restructuring and reformation of the Force. Members of the public have a part to play in day-to-day policing.
