Led in evidence by Inspector Isatu Gbassay Fofanah, the complainant Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray informed the court that he recognized the accused, and that the accused person joined his campaign team as a volunteer during the 2018 parliamentary local council and presidential elections.

He further told the court that he recalled the incident of Wednesday 12 May 2018, and that on the said date he was in the northern district headquarter town of Makeni, when he received a telephone call from one Edward Fofanah informing him about the accused Mohamed Bangura’s  plan to set his residence at Marjay Town ablaze.

According to Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, he immediately traveled from Makeni to Freetown, and on his arrival, Edward Abass Fofanah handed over to him an audio recording of the accused person, before he reported the matter at the Criminal Investigation Department headquarter at Pademba Road in Freetown, after which statement was obtained from him.

The witness also intimated the court that he felt bad and dumb-founded when he learnt about the accused person’s dastard plan, because the accused person was very close to him.

He continued to state that during the cause of investigation, the accused Mohamed Bangura apologized to him on his mobile phone about the incident, and that the print-out of the audio recording of the accused person was produced and tendered in evidence.

“I used to give the accused five hundred thousand Leones as stipend on a monthly basis and the accused person has also been harassing and raining all sorts of unprintable invectives on my person,” Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray told the court.

The accused, Mohamed Bangura was represented by Lawyer, JM Jengo and the matter comes up again on Monday 18 June, 2018.
