Making their proposal the President, Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Christopher Foster said the Chamber is determined to work with the Government of Sierra Leone to make the economy buoyant.

He informed the president about their proposal is a mechanism to transform the country’s economy. He mentioned that there should be a private and public dialogue partnership.

He called on the government to construct a purpose built exhibition centre that will attract foreign investors and one that will always be there for exhibiting the country’s produce.

He also called on the government to harmonize taxes to encourage investors, stating that it should be minimal to boost profit for the country and business people.

He also stated that the government should be involving the business people in drafting policies that are geared towards regulating trade, pointing out that, it will enhance the development of better policies that can increase growth, and ensure that bad trade laws and policies that have negatively affected this country are identified and expunged from our law books.

He expressed his excitement over the 10 million US dollars project signed by the government of Sierra Leone and the World Bank.

Addressing a cross-section of Chamber, President Julius Maada Bio said they have a vital role to play in shaping the economy and promised to address the clearance issue that they are complaining of.

President Bio disclosed that the country’s tax policy needs to be reviewed and promised that his administration is working towards making it better in a bid to improve trade. He asked that they plan together in addressing the business borders that exist between Sierra Leone and her neighboring countries.

He assured that the government is working in ensuring it creates the enabling business climate as a way of boosting the economy.
