He went on to say that the reason why many people were against the project was because it was new in Sierra Leone as most people do not know much about toll road operations.

“Another reason why we had so many challenges was because motorists wanted an alternative route they think should be of high quality like the toll road that they do not have to pay a fee to use. All over the world, alternative roads are always worse than the toll road and almost all motorists will prefer to use the toll road rather than the alternative road.”

He went on to say that all the challenges they had have almost disappeared and motorists are now enjoying the road and they are urging CRSG to make sure they finish the road on time. Mr. Francis said that the construction is on course and they will do all in their power to make sure the road is of high quality and all repairs done as and when necessary.

“We will be dishing out a new contract to our toll collectors and this time the contract has been improved and we are looking forward to them to be more professional and adhere to the terms and conditions stated in the contract.”

Many motorists this press spoke to stated that the completed road is good and they believe they should pay for it, but said they should not pay for a road that is yet to be completed.

Overall most of the motorists using the road said they are pleased over the toll gate operations so far and that they believe that at the end of construction the road will be very important as it has already eradicated traffic congestion at Calaba Town and Waterloo.

They urged the government to collaborate with WAOMC to see if there is any possibility to reduce the cost especially for Lorries that ply the route with basic food items.

Mr. Francis said however that they have done all they could to reduce the prices and that he believes that they have given motorists the best prices so far adding that they will make sure best service is provided at all times.
