The State had alleged that the three accused persons conspired together with other persons unknown to defraud the United Bank for Africa (UBA) the sum of six hundred and fifty four million, four hundred and eighteen thousand Leones.

The presiding Magistrate informed the court that he had thoroughly perused the submissions of both the prosecution and the defense, but ruled that the prosecution failed to adduce sufficient evidence against the accused persons in respect of the offences charged.

In another development, a Guinean student, Fatoumata Balde has been convicted and sentenced by Santigie Bangura to three months imprisonment or pay a fine of five hundred thousand Leones.

Santigie Bangura is adjudicating over the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at Siaka Steven Street.

The convict is charged with the offence of Possession of a Passport suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained, contrary to Section (13) sub Section (1) of the Summary Conviction Offences cap (37) of the Laws of Sierra Leone as amended by the Summary Conviction Offences Amendment Act of 1966.

She was arrested at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi in the Kafu Bullum Chiefdon, Port Loko District in the northern part of Sierra Leone, on Sunday 29 July 2018 with an Austria national passport bearing the name of the accused person, Fatoumata Balde suspected to have been stolen.

The matter was prosecuted by Inspector Kuyateh, while the convict Fatoumata Balde was represented by Lawyer A. Koroma and A.S Kamara.
