He is charged with the Offences of Soliciting Advantage, contrary to Section (28) sub Section (2) of the Anti Corruption Act N0.12 of 2008, and Abuse of Office, which contravenes Section (42) sub section (1) of the Anti Corruption Act No.12 of 2008.

The State claimed that the accused person being a member of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and Officer-in-Charge of Forward Operation Headquarter at Bailor in the Port Loko District of the Republic of Sierra Leone, on 27 October 2016 at Kortimoh Wharf, solicited advantage to wit: the sum of one million Leones from a boat owner called Sheku Kamara.

Accused Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Michael Jenkins between 27 October 2016 and 31 December 2016 at Bailor improperly conferred advantage on himself by retaining proceeds from the sale of petrol and diesel products seized at Kortimoh Wharf in the Port Loko District of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

After the charges were preferred against the accused person, the State Prosecutor E.K Amara applied to the presiding Judge for the matter to be tried by Judge alone, rather than by Judge and Jury, and that he has effected service of lawyers defending the accused person, and that his application is pursuant to the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965.

The accused person Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Michael Jenkins was later granted bail in the sum of two million Leones including one surety in like sum.

He was represented by barristers Ansu Lansana and Gibrilla Kamara. The matter was adjourned to 20 September 2018 for further hearing.
