According to the report, the evidence collected by the ACC shows that “there are people in the civil and public services who have surreptitiously reduced their age for want of staying in the service beyond the due retirement date.”

The report adds that the ACC evidence “shows that some civil servants dishonestly reduced their age by 7 to 10 years for them to illegitimately stay long in the service depriving government from giving job opportunities to younger and competent Sierra Leoneans.”

According to the report the total amount of money that would have to be retrieved from these fifty suspected ‘underage’ civil servants stands at Le29,917,345 (twenty nine million, nine hundred and seventeen thousand, three hundred and forty five hundred Leones).
