Tholoma Sumah who is the first winner from Sierra Leone is now a member of a special program “Youth Transforming Africa” (YTA) which was created by the World Bank.

This year, the World Bank/ IMF Spring Meeting focus on the digitalization of the African economy and human capital development in Africa; it was also thoroughly maintained that Africa should digitalize its economy to boost it economic growth.

Giving his own contribution during the meeting Tholoma Sumah called on Africa youths to take action, stating that the problem of Africa has been discussed too much and that there is need for urgent intervention in Africa.

Sumah disclosed all relevant problems discussed during the meeting about Africa are not new, adding that an action to tackle these problems is what has been lacking for Africa leaders.

“Africa should be the producers of its own computers, cars, mobile phones and food stuff” Sumah said; adding that he believes that Africa can be digitalized if it continues to import technological hardware. “I believe we Africans have the capacity to do it, it’s just a matter of redirecting our focus.”

Tholoma Sumah went on to say that focused on his message during that meeting, saying that Africans needs and should produce what they consume.

Tholoma Sumah added that he is planning to lead the campaign on what he proposed at the meeting and that he is not only going to campaign but would also lead the way for Sierra Leone to produce its own hardware.

“I want to mobilize technological innovators so that Sierra Leone leads the way to the production of what it can consume; my interest is specifically on technology and agriculture,” Sumah said.
