Citizens of Sierra Leone and in the spirit of accountability and good governance called on the ACC to investigate Parliament and its activities based on the allegations already in public.

Following this, the ACC has invited the two honorable MPs to assist the Commission with investigations on the aforementioned alleged corruption.

ACC’s Director of Public Education and Outreach, Patrick Sandy said the two public officers reported to the Commission yesterday Monday 25th November.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Sierra Leone People’s Party Lahai Lawrence Leema has said that the actions of Honourable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh of publicly accusing the Clerk of Parliament who was a Member of Parliament himself under the SLPP party, amounts to Anti-Party activity.

The National Publicity Secretary, Lahai Lawrence Lemah had taken to his Facebook account to make this declaration but following discussions on the Africa Young Voices Wake Up Salone program yesterday 25th November, he had visited the studio to clarify statements he said were a misrepresentation of what he said.

During the discussions, he stated that Honorable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh should have explored other means of reporting his misgivings/allegations instead of bringing the matter to the public without adequate evidence.

Hon. Tawa had recently been hailed after he spoke out against the unaccountable imprest proposed by the Finance Act of 2020 to be given to the President and Vice President. It was suggested by other Members of Parliament that the speaker be included as one of the beneficiaries of this clause and it was this that Hon. Tawa opposed.

During an interview on this at Radio Democracy, Hon. Tawa called for parliamentary administration accounting to the public. He alleged that the administration is less than transparent.

The next day, Hon. Tawa and Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Paran Tarawallie had faced off and made allegations against each other. They were then both invited to the Anti-Corruption Commission to give statements on allegations mentioned.

It was all these that led to National Publicity’s statement, posted on his timeline and recent statement reiterated on AYV.

It should be noted that the Clause of Section 77K in the 1991 Constitution had been used to remove the former Vice President Sam Sumana from office after he was expelled for carrying out anti-party activities.

However, citizens have been clamoring in support of Hon. Tawa and vehemently against disciplinary actions from the party, as according to them, Hon. Tawa acted in the interest of the state.
