As armed robbery continues in BO; POLICE FALL HARD ON BIKE RIDERS

This according to the police will help reduce the number of crime rates especially armed robbery. Though this in the interest of the people of Bo and by extension the country, people especially travelers who come from other towns and arrives Bo late are expressing concerns with regards the constraints they are facing in respect of the ban on commercial motto bike to stop activities at 12am. “The motor bikes are the fastest means of transportation to our various destinations” a concerned citizen stated. “The ban on commercial bike riding by the Sierra Leone Police is an impediment on our rights to movement” a bike rider added.

Responding, the regional police media boss south, Mohamed Bonson Sengu intimated AYV that the concerns of people are actually in place but they should not also forget the fact that the role of the police is to ensure that their lives and properties are protected. He added that the ban on commercial bike ridding was not placed unnecessarily but to protect the importation of criminal pillions including some riders themselves who commit various felonious offences like robbery, house breaking and more.

He cited an instance that occurred sometimes last August when a commercial motor bike rider Ibrahim Soriba and others on boarded a bike between 9 and 10pm and robbed a business woman of her money, mobile phone and other valuables. He encouraged all to work with the police in order to promote peace in the city of Bo.
