Former staff of the now defunct Sierra Leone Cables aka SALCAB, today Monday July 26 were paid their end of service benefits by the government of Sierra Leone at the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

It can be recalled that, following the unbundling of SALCAB, staff at the now moribund institution were redundant ahead of the takeover by Zoodlabs. The redundancy took effect on May 31st, 2021.

These staff were due their redundancy package, rent and other allowance payments. The Government of Sierra Leone agreed to pay them in line with the labour laws of the country.

Ministry of Information and Communications worked with the Labour Ministry in following due process in addressing the end of service benefits for the former SALCAB workers. The process was guided by the labourgazzete.

The total amount of money to be paid before tax is Le5.2 billion for 67 staff of former SALCAB and all of them signed off their payment slips.

Chairman SorieFofanah admonished the ex-staff to be hopeful and assured them that their skills will definitely hand them another job.

The Acting Director of Communications in the Ministry of Information and Communications Mr. MuminiJalloh informed all ex staff who are in possession of properties belonging to government to return then and that payment will only be made to them after delivery of government property.

The program was climaxed by ex-staff signing off their end of service benefits form.
