The offence indicated that she collected over Le10 million from a certain Benjamin Koroma on diverse dates in 2015, on the pretext of renting the house to him and his wife, Juliet Koroma.

First prosecution witness, Juliet, who was led in evidence by state counsel, Ahmed Bockarie, told the court that she recognized the accused and recalled the incident of 31 May 2015.

She explained that on the aforementioned date she was present when her husband, Benjamin, handed over an initial amount of Le 1,500 to the accused, Elizabeth, for purpose of renting the said house.

She further informed the court that she was also present when her husband gave the sum of Le6 million to the accusedon 8 July 2015 for the same purpose and they were even issued with receipts in respect of the amount deposited for the same house in question.

The witness also disclosed that she vividly recollected on 22 June 2015, when her husband handed over another Le2 million to the accused and further collected another Le 1, 600 from him on 11 July 2015.

She claimed that the accused issued receipts to her husband on all those occasions and that he was in possession of all the receipts relating to the financial transaction between them.

At this juncturethe state counsel informed the presiding Judge thatthe accused had requested for a trial by Judge alone instead of Judge and jury and requested for an adjournment so as to enable the prosecution establish the necessary contacts with second prosecution witness, who was out of Freetown.

The accused was not represented by any lawyer during the proceedings.Justice Samba adjourned the matter to 7 November 2016
