The Sierra Leone Aid Initiative (SLAI), an organisation based in the United States of America, with operations in Sierra Leone has donated assorted food items and physical cash to Muslims and residents of various communities in the east of Freetown.

The support benefited seventy-five Mosques and residents selected from communities around Rokel including Poyo Bar, Quarry, Jui and Rokel and mosques including Masjid Tauba in Jui, Masjid Iklass in Rokel, Masjid AMEN and Masjid Ansar among others.

The beneficiaries received supports including rice, oil, teabags, packets of sugar, pure water and physical cash for cooking before, during and after Ramadan.

Country Representative for SLAI in Sierra Leone, Theresa Rose said the aim for the gesture is to support the community members, especially the Muslims who will commence fasting in the holy month of Ramadan soon, adding that SLAI wants to give back to communities, especially to the less privileged.

According to her, they have targeted Muslims and Mosques who are less privileged so that they can have food on their table during this blessed month.

She said the mastermind behind the donation is a philanthropist based in Minnesota, USA, Jonathan Rose, with support from the Grace Lutheran Church in Minnesota USA, Aunty Mimie Mogaka based in the USA, philanthropist Miss Theresa Rose and SLAI’s Sierra Leone Country Director, Bro Matthew Sallieu Patrick.

She assured that SLAI with more supports from Grace Lutheran Church will continue its supports to the less privileged.

The Sierra Leone Aid Initiative is not only targeting less privileged Muslims and communities, but also pupils who have benefitted from school items as regular benefactors of all donations made by SLAI.
