Police wives hold national peace sensitisation for 2023 elections

Members of the Police Wives Association, Sierra Leone have held a national peace sensitisation on non-violence, the need for peace to reign before, during and after elections and the rise in hatred against police officers in the country.

President of the Association, Mrs. Matilda Doris Sellu, doubling as wife of the Inspector General of Police spoke on the need for peace to reign before, during and after elections and for civilians to see police officers as their family members.

Mrs. Sellu said: “One unique feature that binds us together is our nationality, the moment you speak Krio in a foreign land and another Sierra Leonean hears you, trust me he or she will run and hug you, automatically, you become family there. Why can’t we exhibit same love and care back home among ourselves?”

Her husband the Police Inspector General, she said, is a disciplinarian whom she assured the public of fair judgment should a police officer hurts them and therefore pleaded against mob justice on the police.
