The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL) has officially published the names and photos of all thirteen candidates for the 2023 presidential election.
The Commission further informed that the elections will commence at 7:00am and that all polling stations will be closed at 5:00pm on polling day.
In a similar development, the Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh has revealed that the Commission is currently printing Voter Registers, funded by the UNDP.
He said the Commission has completed the printing for 5 districts and that the whole process will be completed by end of this week, adding that contract has also been awarded by the Commission for the printing of ballot papers to a South African company that printed the 2012 and 2018 ballot papers.
Commissioner Konneh said: “The theme for the June 24 general elections is: ‘2023 Saful Election’ as decided by the Electoral Commission.
“We have disaggregated the voter register reflecting the requirements by political parties and some civil society organisations which is now available on EC-SL’s website.
“The issues raised by All People’s Congress Party have been addressed and there is a total of 33% women’s representation in political parties which is within the requirement of the Public Elections Act that says there must be a female among every three candidates”.
Representatives of diplomatic missions have prioritised the need for equity in order to experience free, fair and credible elections.
