Raymond de Souza furthered explained that people like William Wilberforce sacrificed for millions of people in this country and that he was from Hull City, such situation signified the noteworthy duration of the relationship between these two cities.

Chairman, Hull Society Canon Dr. Modupeh Taylor – Pearce Said we are all one and that we have joined the British people to do great things together and that united we stand divided we fall, he went on to say  that Hull Society would obtain a room in the ongoing construction City Hall when it shall being completed.

British High Commissioner, H.E Guy Warrington said that Hull City is great cultural center were so many people across the world assemble and share experience on different cultures. It is not a surprise for Freetown and Hull to have a tie and a relationship that will benefit the two cities immensely.

Mayor of Freetown, Sam Frankly Bode Gibson stated the relationship is very significant as it was the first twining in the world between two local authorities and it was also the first twinning between a developed and a developing country.

Bode Gibson added “it is important to note that the ties between Hull and Freetown became more and more cemented over the years and in 1999, after the invasion of the city, Freetown City Council requested for an assistance from the Hull City Council for the refurbishing of the present  Freetown City Council accommodation.”

 He reiterated that, he cannot overemphasize the numerous facelifts over the years that the Freetown City Council derived from the relationship between the two cities. Bode Gibson pinpointed staff exchange visit a situation he said strengthen the human resource and build the capacity of numerous staff of the Freetown City Council.
