The workshop aimed at bringing lecturers of the aforementioned subjects as well as interested partners to exchange ideas about trends and didactic methods that are necessary to inculcate innovation in the above named disciplines.
The theme of the workshop is: ‘’Transformation of and standardizing Entrepreneurship, ICT and research education for private sector development.
Entrepreneurship, ICT and research education are the motor for innovation and private sector transformation.
The President of Sierra Leone HE Ernest Bai Koroma has articulated the Private Sector ambition of the country after the Ebola scourge and parliament has enacted the Local Content Policy into law. The law gives value and encourage companies to use the local products of Sierra Leone and at the same time facilitate local talent development in the country. This however will help students create and grow businesses.
The absent of a well-educated national programme on entrepreneurship, ICT and research education is jeopardizing government effort in promoting Private Sector development aspirations of the country. And there is currently no knowledge exchange taken place between lecturers in the area of Entrepreneurship, ICT and Research, and also very few reading materials are available for students, but however the Workshop will close that gap.
According to Abubakarr Bangura, who is on a CD4D assignment to IAMTECH the Workshop will bring lecturers of entrepreneurship related subjects in order to exchange ideas about trends and didactic methods that are necessary to inculcate the entrepreneurship culture to students of higher institutions in the country.
