The management of SABCO Fishing Company has said they are still waiting on the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) to come out with their investigations report on the electricity meter incident that was rumored on social media recently against the Company.

Some staff of the Company have told this medium that all what was seen in the video clip circulated on social media were mere allegations and that after the EDSA investigations, the Company will address the issue through the press and set the records straight.

SABCO and allied products factory at Jui has made tremendous progress since its establishment few months ago.

With more establishments in Jui and Kissy in Freetown and ⁠Dambala road in Bo, SABCO trade in frozen carton fish and produces the first sardines in West Africa, which has been highly welcomed by Sierra Leoneans.

Making it one of the first private sector investments in an industry with the potential to employ one million young people in Sierra Leone, SABCO has been in existence since 2003 and started in Bo as Sabbagh supermarket.

Sierra Leone’s President Dr. Julius Maada Bio praised the management and staff of SABCO Fishing Company and expressed delight at the start of operations, pointing out that “it marks a significant day in our efforts to deliver on the flagship pillar of my government’s Medium-Term Development Plan, the Feed Salone Initiative”.

He said the establishment of the Company was a good sign that the government’s efforts at attracting foreign direct investments were yielding results.

Chief Financial Officer of SABCO Fishing Company, Abess Sabbagh said their move was driven by their commitment to excellence and the desire to contribute to the growth of the local community, stressing that they had been an integral part of the thriving marine landscape of Freetown.
