Senior member of Sierra Leone’s main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden has made a patriotic call for Sierra Leoneans to learn to give credit to President Julius Maada Bio when he does well so that when they blast at him when he goes rogue, the world will know they do it without malice.
In her latest article titled: “Why we thank President Bio and Team for taking Sierra Leone to the UNSC”, Dr. Blyden said: “President Bio has done well to take us and position us on the global stage by leading an SLPP team that got us elected to a seat on the United Nations Security Council. The SLPP makes lots of errors but on this one, they got things perfectly right and I salute them”.
She reminded Sierra Leoneans, especially the youths that it is a great day for Sierra Leone to chair an important debate at the United Nations Security Council on Africa’s role in global security matters.
She said it is a bright moment to be proud as Sierra Leone citizens, noting; “you don’t have to love SLPP or His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to admire the way they have positioned our beautiful Sierra Leone on the global stage. For those who are saying for a country to get elected to a seat on the United Nations Security Council is nothing big but is merely “rotational”, please stop misleading our compatriots who trust you. You are liars abusing their trust. You are charlatans”.
Dr. Blyden said Sierra Leone going back to a seat on the UN Security Council after 53 years (since the APC & H.E. Siaka Stevens did it) is good, fantastic and a glorious achievement especially as the country was elected with a landslide last year after diligent global canvassing by the Bio-led SLPP regime.
She concluded: “Bottomline, getting Sierra Leone back on UN Security Council is a great feat. Let’s applaud H.E. Bio for his excellent leadership on this. He’s not there on his own personal capacity. Maada Bio is there as Sierra Leone. So let’s cheer as Sierra Leone chairs the United Nations Security Council on very important topics about Africa”. See page 7 for Dr. Blyden’s full article.
