The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, arrived in Abidjan on Friday, October 11, 2024, for high-level discussions with Ivorian authorities and Transco on the ongoing CLSG (Côte d’Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea) electricity supply project to Sierra Leone.

This visit follows President Julius Maada Bio’s recent engagements with Ivorian officials aimed at bolstering energy trade and enhancing regional cooperation.

The talks are expected to advance efforts to ensure a reliable electricity supply for Sierra Leone through the CLSG interconnection.

In 2021, President Bio had tasked Vice President Jalloh with engaging Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara to accelerate the delivery of electricity to Sierra Leone, part of a broader initiative to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure.

The Vice President’s discussions focused on the critical importance of regional energy initiatives.

“This isn’t just about electricity,” Dr. Jalloh remarked. “It’s about unlocking economic growth and improving the quality of life for our people.”

Beyond the technical details, Dr. Jalloh’s engagement emphasized a vision of sustainable energy solutions and regional unity. He underscored the need to attract private sector investments—an essential step in addressing the infrastructure challenges that have long hindered the energy market in West Africa.

This gathering in Abidjan represents a vital chapter in Sierra Leone’s journey toward energy security and economic resilience. Dr. Jalloh’s efforts are paving the way for a more integrated and prosperous West Africa, where electricity is not a luxury but a guaranteed right for all.
