Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbors Authority (SLPHA), Yankuba Askia Bio, participated in the Freetown Terminal Board Meeting in Puteaux, France.

His presence at the meeting underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening its port operations, fostering international collaboration, and advancing strategic initiatives for sustainable development.
At the meeting, strategic discussions focused on improving operational efficiency, optimizing cargo handling, and enhancing security measures. These efforts are essential not only to meet current demands but also to position the Freetown Terminal as a vital hub for regional and international trade.
With a strong emphasis on innovation and sustainability, the board reaffirmed its commitment to long-term growth and resilience.
Meanwhile, as he returns from France, the determined Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbors Authority (SLPHA), Yankuba Askia Bio plans to undertake several big reforms to make the Queen Elizabeth the second Quay or Water quay the best and most enviable maritime and port infrastructure in the region.
The dynamic SLPHA DG also uses his stay in France to advocate for more modern port equipment’s that will also make the facility one of the best in Africa.
Yankuba Askia Bio has also used his recent visit to France to help promote the work of the facility and also give a new facelift to its brand name and activities.
The SLPHA DG has also plans to reforms areas that have to do with increase revenue and also reduce the time for processing and clearing goods at the quay.
He has also expressed satisfaction with the works of other partners at the quay like Freetown Terminal, Nectar and the Customs departments, adding that under his new reforms the SLPHA will introduced cutting edge information and communication technology to help in clearing goods at the port and quay.
Apart from those reforms, the SLPHA DG plans to improve on the welfare of workers and also reduce human congestions around the entire port area.
