Alhaji Mohamed Warittay, Chief Executive Director of Democracy Sierra Leone speaking during the well attended workshop said his organization is a non-political and non-governmental democratic organization with the primary aim of ensuring a level playing field for all citizens and political parties in all democratic dispensation.

He said: “Our organization is here today in Port Loko to educate people about electoral processes and the involvement of every individuals aged 18 and above and not to campaign or talk against any political party.”

He said Democracy Sierra Leone is one among the leading civil societies in the country that has played pivotal roles in all the past and present electoral processes. Its main aim he went on is to ensure the democratic principles and rights of all individuals and political parties are respected at all times and to ensure free, fair, transparent and credible elections.

He encouraged all and sundry, especially youth to stay off violence in our upcoming elections.

Ansumana Bangura, the representative of the physically challenged and a beneficiary from the US Embassy emphatically stated that the disabled made up of 10% of the total voters and therefore NEC must continue to provide the needed environment for all persons living with disabilities during elections.

Musa Carew is the Project Officer of DSL. He spoke on the functions of the Members of Parliament, Councillors, Mayors and Chairmen.
