Addressing the postings ceremony in the conference hall of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation on Monday December 14, 2015, the Chief Nursing Officer, Matron Hossinatu Kanu congratulated the newly certified Midwives and encouraged them to be committed, dedicated and accountable in their different duty stations.

She spoke on their core responsibilities, the code of ethics of the nursing profession and the regulation and code of conduct of the Civil Service including issues on their dress code, promotion and transfers, pointing out that as senior professionals they should be seen as mentors and role models for their junior colleagues.

Matron Kanu underscored the importance of putting into practice Infection, Prevention and Control measures and a change of attitude to portray the nursing profession in a positive light, and to act as advocates to ensure pregnant women utilize their various health facilities.

With the exception of Western Urban/Rural Area due to the over population of midwifery staff, the Final Postings to the different peripheral health units would be executed by the District Health Management Teams in the north, east and southern regions on arrival.
