In his presentation, Junisa Sankoh Public Education Officer, ACC expressed the fundamental element of bribery and corruption. He further mentioned that, the staff and pupils are key players in the fight against bribery and corruption. He said the concept of integrity is the watchword for them to build their individual characters to help them grow well. Mr. Sankoh maintained that, the Commission believes so much in them, as they have the moral responsibility to reject, resist and report all forms of bribery. Mr. Junisa Sankoh advised teachers to act as role models in lifting high the aspirations and dreams of pupils.
Mohamed A. Kabba Assistant Public Education Officer dilated on the reporting mechanisms of the Pay No Bribe campaign. He encouraged pupils, teachers and school authorities to call the 515 free toll lines. He mentioned that, the PNB in its pilot phase is targeting key service delivery sectors; the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, the Sierra Leone Police, Ministry of Water Resources, Electricity, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. He called on pupils, teachers and the school authorities to partner with the Commission to prevent, suppress and eliminate bribery in these sectors. In closing, Mr. Kabba inspired pupils and teachers to imbibe the principles and culture of integrity, transparency and accountability. He pointed out specifically to pupils that, the suppression of corruption should be internally motivated if they wished to become better and well meaning citizens that will contribute positively to the development of Sierra Leone. He called on pupils, teachers and the Principal to widely embrace the fight against bribery and corruption.
Earlier in his welcome statement, Principal of the school, Momodu Kamara appreciated the Commission for the good work they continue to do in Sierra Leone. He implored the pupils and staff to take very seriously the information that would be transmitted to them by the ACC.
Florence Dumbuya, a pupil of the school passionately expressed how such engagement will significantly impact her life. She personally registered her gratitude to the Commission for the tremendous strides taken in curbing graft.
The Commission had earlier engaged the International Secondary and Modern High schools on the Pay No Bribe (PNB) campaign on the 1st and 3rd March 2017 respectively.
The presentation of PNB information and promotional materials formed the high point of the engagements.
