Speaking at the Government’s weekly press conference held at the conference room at the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Director, Public Education and Outreach at the Anti-Corruption Commission, Patrick Sandi said that the Pay No Bribe PNB campaign was principally established to discourage and eliminate the habit of bribery in the country.
“The PNB is not prosecution focus when complains are received we analyzed and processed them, and send them to the different MDA’s in the expectation of administrative actions and reforms to be taken in improving of national essential services delivery” Patrick Sandi mentioned.
He further explained that they are expecting the cooperation of the people’s, to make the PNB campaign a successful one for the benefit of the nation.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Cornelius Deveaux applauded the public for participating during the process noting that it was the responsibility of all Sierra Leoneans, to participate in the process to minimize corruption in the country.
Deveaux encouraged Sierra Leoneans to follow the footstep of Kenema people’s, as he referred to their participation during the process as demonstration of true patriot towards ending corruption in the country.
Public Relations Officer, Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority, EDSA, Sahr Nepor stated that they will work with the Anti- Corruption Commission, ACC, in the PNB campaign which had aided EDSA to identify some of their flaws. He vividly pointed out that if someone claimed to providing meter without any proper receipt and documentation from the institution, should be reported immediately, adding that it as a result of that EDSA will possibly tackle bribery and corruption.
Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Education, Brima Michael Turay mentioned that most bribery incidence happened as a result of the direct involvement of parents and that his ministry’s had little or nothing to do on that.
He added “parent whose children have failed use the back doors just to ensure their children are promoted to the next class that is not the ministry fault, but the parent who are doing all they can to ensure their children’s being promoted to the next class, but as a responsible ministry we will work with ACC to minimize bribery in the educational sector.”
