Communications Officer at the ACC, Abubakarr Turay explained about the pilot phase of the PNB campaign which is targeting the police, water, electricity, health and education sectors. Mr. Turay said the DFID-supported project provides platforms for citizens to report bribery through the 515 toll free line, the PNB website (www.pnb.gov.sl) and  mobile application. He said the Commission is targeting the airport due to its strategic importance to the economic development of the country and describing it as the first and last impression of a country, adding that travelers’ experiences about a country’s airport often lasts for a long time. He said they would use the exercise to raise awareness among airport staff and passengers to desist from acts of bribery.

The General Manager of the SLAA, Idriss Fofanah told the ACC staff that on receiving notification of the exercise, asked all staff and agencies at the airport to provide the necessary support to ensure a successful outcome. He said the SLAA management takes issues of integrity very seriously and has reconstituted the institution’s integrity management committee in a bid to strengthen it. He assured the ACC team of their fullest support during the exercise.

The ACC Team also later engaged Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Musa Hashim, Head of the Westminster Security (in charge of security at the airport), staff of the customs department, the Office of National Security, servicemen of the Lungi Garrison headed by Lieutenant Colonel H.S. Jalloh, servicemen of the Reconnaissance Unit headed by Major O.D. Samura,  the Lungi Police Division headed by Local Unit Commander J.A. Gbonnoh and other agencies at the airport.
