He told the court that he recognized the accused person in the dock, and recalled the incident of 25 May 2017, and furthered that as a police officer, he was responsible for the protection of lives and properties.
According to him, he received intelligence from the Local Unit Commander of the Aberdeen Police Division that some people were blasting dynamite at the Aberdeen Sea Coach area, adding that upon receipt of the said intelligence, he led a team of police officers to the alleged scene of crime.
Superintendent Brima Kanneh made this disclosure, when he was led in evidence by police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Samuel Kamara, and went further to testified that they used a speed to chase the accused and some of his accomplices who escaped police arrest.
He intimated the well- attended session that whiles they were in process of arresting the accused and his accomplices at the sea, he said the accused blasted dynamite at them, but that none of them sustained any injury.
The witness also stated in his testimony that they arrested the accused with two dynamite and later detained him at the Aberdeen Police division, before he was charged to court for the offence of being in possession of fire explosive dynamite, contrary to Section (12) Sub Section (1) of the explosive amendment act of 1974, of the laws of Sierra Leone.
He continued that they arrested the accused with some quantity of raw fish and he was alleged to have committed the said offences, in the Freetown judicial district in the western area in the republic of Sierra Leone on 25 May 2017.
The accused, Ibrahim Turay was also charged with offence of attempted murder and also attempted to suffocate a certain Alie Kamara with intent to murder the said Alie Kamara.
The accused person was accused of suffocating, Captain Saidu Bangura and police constable Tarawalie, contrary to offences against persons act of 1861 of the country’s laws, but he was granted bail by Magistrate Dr. Abubakar Binneh Kamara of court N0.1 in Freetown, in the sum of eighty million leones in like sum including one.
The presiding Magistrate, Dr. Abubakar Binneh Kamara also ordered that the accused, Ibrahim Turay should produced one surety who should be a residential citizen within the Freetown judicial district in the western area of the republic of Sierra Leone, and bail approved by the Master and Registrar of the court.
