Councillor Percy Nicholson declared his intention for the position during a meeting held by the membership of the association on the 28th December, 2014.
He told this medium in an interview that his intention to vie for the position was as a result of the kind gesture he has been offering since he joined the association way back in the 90’s and that members of the association thought it fit to give him a try in order to take the association forward.
He said he was actually thinking to take up the venture when members of the association asked and endorsed him to take the lead via a letter written to him late in December, asking him to go for the presidential position ahead of the election on their behalf.
Percy Nicolson maintained that he has all what it takes to move the association forward but that had it not been for the call from the members for him to contest the position, he should have stayed back and assist as usual with whatever he has to promote and develop the association.
He said now that the membership has called on him to step forward, he will not fail them but will fight to the last to gain the position and work in the interest of developing cycling.
He mentioned that he was aware of Luke and the incumbent Winston Crowther, but he is sure of winning the election.
If the wins the election, he said, he will work hand in hand with members of the association to take the sport to higher heights. He promised that he will make sure the sport becomes popular nationwide as according to him, will encourage more youths to be part of it.

“My main aim is to bring in new policies to transform the association in a way that cyclists will have access to funds like insurance for anything that happens to them during the course of any competition,” he said, adding that he would also put certain strategies in place to attract more business houses into the association as way of creating an avenue to generate income to sustain the association.
He however stated that even if he loses, he will continue to give his best to the association and as a cyclist, he will always continue to be one, though losing the election is the last thing he will think of because, according to him, “I know the membership has endorsed me and they will not let him down, because they believed in me to move the sport to another level.”
