The Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, His Excellency Roey Gilad, has assured Israel’s support to President Julius Maada Bio’s Feed Salone Agenda.
Speaking exclusively to AYV’s Connect Africa Correspondent, Mr. Daniel Moore, Ambassador Gilad spoke of Sierra Leone’s importance to Israel, citing the government’s continuous mention of the Israeli hostages held by Palestine during the UN Security Council meeting in New York.

He underlined the importance of keeping this situation in the mind of the government for the remaining 6 months of Sierra Leone’s tenure in the Security Council.
Ambassador Roey Gilad expressed continued respect for Muslims as they celebrate the Eid Al Adha saying Israel has boasts of about 20% Muslim citizens and they as a nation will continue to extend the Olive branch to Muslim countries just as they currently have with 5 Arabic states (UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan).
On the continued support of Sierra Leone, he promised that his doors are open to the government for any areas of interest, while expressing hope that Sierra Leone will soon appoint an Ambassador to Israel, either resident or at least a regional representative.
Ambassador Roey Gilad commended the longstanding bilateral relations between Israel and Sierra Leone spanning over five decades. He cited successful cooperation initiatives, including training programs and scholarships that have benefited over 500 Sierra Leoneans in various sectors in Israel.
He highlighted potential areas for further collaboration, particularly in agriculture, fisheries, and human capital development through structured training programs. The Ambassador also encouraged Sierra Leone to streamline coordination with relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure impactful results, stressing the importance of setting clear priorities within the broader development agenda.
Despite the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Palestine, Ambassador Gilad reaffirmed his government’s continued commitment to supporting Sierra Leone in education, agriculture, and sustainable development.
