The party also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the people of Ward 196, Constituency 058, Tonko Limba chiefdom, for their show of solidarity with the Party and for voting overwhelmingly for the APC candidate, Alusine Kamara, in past Saturday’s local council bye election irrespective of the violence that resulted to the loss of life and properties, burning of a house and wounding of people.
“We further wish the wounded, Momoh Sesay and Yahya Conteh both about 24 years, who sustained gunshot wounds in the leg and on the back respectively speedy recovery. The Party hereby express sympathy for Mr Simbo Kargbo whose house was torched in the row” the party states in it press release.
The Party reiterates its conviction that Alusine Kamara is the duly elected councilor for Ward 196 and condemns attempt by the National Election Commission in allegedly aiding and abetting the SLPP in its bid to deprive the people of Ward 196 of their constitutional and inalienable right of voting for the candidate of their choice by cancelling the said bye election after collation of result had been conclusive.
The Party assured that it remains opposed to the cancellation and will seek redress in Court, knowing fully well that such action by NEC is in blatant contravention of the provisions of the 1991 Constitution and the Public Election Act 2012.
