APC Leadership meets UN Needs Assessment Mission

The National Leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC) yesterday met with the United Nations Needs Assessment Mission (NAM) at the Party’s Headquarters in Freetown.

The APC delegation was led by Deputy National Chairman, Amb. Alhaji Dr. Osman Foday Yansaneh, and included: National Secretary General, Comrade Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Sidie Yayah Tunis, Deputy Minority Leader 1 in Parliament, Comrade Daniel Koroma, Legal Advisor, Comrade Lawyer Africanus Sorie Sesay, Financial Secretary, Comrade Osman Jalloh, President, APC Women’s Congress, Comrade Mariama Lowe Bangura, President, APC National Young Congress, Comrade Ansu Barnard, Other National Officers.

The UN NAM comprised representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), the ECOWAS Political Advisor, and other Development Partners.

The discussions centered on the implementation of the Tripartite Committee Report recommendations, emphasizing their critical role in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in 2028. The APC reiterated its commitment to this process as fundamental to Sierra Leone’s democratic progress.

The APC acknowledged the UN Mission’s continued support for:

1.  The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) regarding the 2028 General Elections.

2.  Human Rights advancement.

3.  Strengthening Good Governance and the Rule of Law.

4.  Promoting consistent legal interpretation by Sierra Leone’s courts.

National Secretary General, Comrade Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, formally welcomed the delegation and conveyed the sincere apologies of the APC National Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Comrade Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, who was unavoidably absent due to health reasons. Comrade Dumbuya relayed the Chairman’s message: “He assures the Mission and the people of Sierra Leone of his unwavering support and commitment to contributing towards a Sierra Leone that fulfills our collective aspirations.”

Following this, Dumbuya invited Deputy National Chairman, Amb. Dr. Yansaneh, to lead the substantive discussions.

Amb. Dr. Yansaneh guided the deliberations to a conclusive end. The APC Leadership unequivocally declared the Party’s readiness:

-To fully participate in all processes that are lawful and constitutional.

-To robustly resist any attempts by the current administration to act illegally or unconstitutionally.

The meeting concluded with mutual commitments towards supporting the democratic process outlined in the Tripartite Report.
