Presidential aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has denied allegations that former President Ernest Bai Koroma played role and has influenced his political aspiration.

On the allegation that he is a family relation with the former president, Dr. Bangura said, “There is no family connection between us. Our only relationship is that he is my former leader, president, and chairman.”

Speaking on the allegation that he is married to the daughter of the former president, Dr. Bangura said he does not know the daughter in question, he has never had any contact with her, and there is no marital or any direct relationship between them.

Dr. Bangura said that the former president is privately lobbying delegates to support him is completely false, adding, “While I would appreciate his support, the truth is I currently have no form of support from him. I also strongly believe he would not involve himself in anything that would bring back the division we experienced in the APC from 2017 to 2021.”

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has worked extensively in the fields of Transitional Justice, Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration of Ex-Combatants, Security Sector Reform, Sustainable Livelihoods, Gender and Conflict Resolution in Africa.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History and a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from the University of Sierra Leone; another Master’s degree in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam; and a Doctorate in Economics from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany.
