Marching from the Law Court onward to their party office, the supporters who were displaying placards were chanting songs calling on the Commission to the be credible and ensure that the result they announce this time round will reflect the views of the people. The placards had inscriptions such as: ‘Respect our vote’, ‘NEC should work as mandated’, ‘we demand manual counting of our votes’ and ‘N’fah Alie Conteh must be replace’ among other inscriptions.
The protesters also expressed doubt over the 7th March, 2018 elections result, noting that the counting process was marred with irregularities. They noted that electronic counting of ballots gives opportunity for NEC officials to manipulate the figures, adding that for past elections, the Commission did manual counting; and so they demanded that NEC should revert to this method.
The supporters also demanded for the replacement of the National Returning Officer of NEC, N’fah Alie Conteh and other officials of the Commission.
