The Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) of Sierra Leone’s main opposition, the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, is scheduled to convene for a three-day Technical Retreat in Makeni from June 27 to June 29, 2025.
In a statement, the Party said, “As the sole authority within the party responsible for overseeing elections at all levels, including all organs and affiliated bodies, the IEMC is tasked with counting and announcing election results by Articles 42 and 54 of the party’s constitution,established in March 2022”.
The primary objective of the Technical Retreat according to the Party, is to prepare the IEMC for the upcoming internal party elections.
The gathering represents a critical initiative to ensure that elections conducted across all party structures are free, fair, and credible.
The retreat will feature esteemed experts in elections, constitutional law, and information and communication technology, alongside interactive sessions designed to foster collaboration.
During this event, the technical team will align the IEMC’s strategies, tools, and timelines with the Party’s Constitution, Election Rules and Regulations, and the IEMC Manual.
