Chief Executive Officer and Owner of the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire, Amb. Anthony Navo Jr. has informed a new set of over twenty University students, accepted into the AYV Academy, that: “At AYV, we are apolitical and our vision is not to be negative but to be positive in showcasing Sierra Leone to the world”.

The AYV was orientating over twenty students from various Universities across Sierra Leone, serving three months Internship, as part of its Academy programme.

Amb. Navo Jr., welcomed the interns and encouraged them to put up and give their best throughout their Internship.

He said: “I encourage you all to put aside all personal, tribal and/or political interests and work to the Editorial Policies of the AYV. Let’s work together to positively promote AYV, Sierra Leone and Africa”.

Under the auspices of the AYV Multimedia Academy, the students, during their stay will receive practical and theoretical training from media professionals and trainers. This will put them in good stead for their prospective future careers and occupations.

The objective of this programme is to build and sustain the relationship between AYV Media Empire and the various tertiary institutions in building the theoretical and practical expertise of students and volunteers in the field of Journalism and Multimedia Communication. AYV Media Empire is Sierra Leone’s leading digital media house that created and continues to create an enviable platform for students, volunteers and other individuals to gain firsthand the required experience needed for practical journalism and multimedia communication.

AYV’s Chief Operations Officer (COO), Messeh Leone informed the interns that AYV Media Empire is Sierra Leone’s leading digital media house that created and continues to create an enviable platform for students, volunteers and other individuals to gain firsthand the required experience needed for practical journalism and multimedia communication.

The COO said students spend four years in the classroom with little or no practical experience to prepare them for the job market, the AYV Academy therefore provides a unique platform with practical skills to young people seeking to gain decent employment and experience that will set them on a career pathway. AYV he said has been at the forefront of engaging and empowering young people, adding that many of AYV’s senior managers came through AYV young professional programmes.

Messeh noted that since the launch of AYV Academy, AYV has collaborated with creative, educational and corporate partners to engage and empower young professionals, adding that the variety of innovative AYV Academy programmes offer dynamic learning through a wealth of resources, practical skills sessions, in-person exercises, digital courses, and expert-led workshops, with AYV now developing new AYV Academy concepts and formats with other partners and universities.

He concluded that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Africa Young Voices Media Empire, Amb. Anthony Navo Jr., has always been capacitating young people, while encouraging them to give their best and be aware than they are representing their respective institutions as ambassadors.

Directors, Managers and Heads of the various Departments at AYV including the Acting Director of News and Current Affairs, Elizabeth Momoh made meaningful presentations welcoming the interns.

A female Intern, Tenneh Kargbo said: “From the start, I’ve note that at AYV there are strong policies that must be complied to. We appreciate the opportunity the Company has created for us to learn more and I am encouraging colleague Interns to let us do our best within our stay here.

A male intern, Daniel Bangura said: “Being at AYV is the best things that has ever happened to me”. He thanked the Company for providing them the platform.
