- Africa Young Voices (AYV’s) Bright Efe, Elizabeth Momoh, Rosetta Fourlagawo and Samuel Koroma introduce to you; a brand new, weekly, 2 min, elections broadcast; #SLElectionsConfidence2023.
The broadcast aims to educate, raise awareness and reassure Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad that this will be a peaceful, fair and free elections.
We will feature all the orgs and community leaders involved in the electoral process. The questions asked, of those we feature in the series, are ones that the people have been asking, some want reassurance that on Saturday 24th June, 2023 that there will be no repeat of the issues from 2018’s electoral process or the concerns we’ve heard thus far.
The team of four Producers, equally, work to bring the concerns of the people to those who have the answers.
On the creation of the series, Rosetta Fourlagawo said: “It came about from me just keeping my ears and eyes to the streets – I am new here, so being considered an outsider, puts me, in my opinion, in a good place where people feel free to just, say and do whatever. From observation before and now, I really seek to demystify the whole way of covering elections in Sierra Leone; making it a lot less classed and focused on the people who actually, bear the brunt of whatever the electoral outcome might be.”
#SLElectionsConfidence2023 in a nutshell, is a “reassurance campaign vid” that I hope, will be a channel of engagement for Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad across our various platforms; TV, Radio, Print and Socials (Facebook, TikTok, Twitter & Instagram).
#SLElectionsConfidence2023 is Journalism that will be a part of AYV’s elections related content within the #SierraLeoneDecides2023 portfolio.
Today, Friday 12th May 2023, the 2min series begins with a feature from the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL) and the National Elections Watch (NEW).
