The newly crowned Miss Sierra Leone 2025, Lachaeveh Alberta Caizarine Davies, thanked the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire for nurturing her steadfastness and building her confidence during the Miss University 2023/24Pageant.

Speaking exclusively to AYV, Queen Lachaeveh Alberta Caizarine Davies said: “I will always like to give my appreciation to the AYV, because when I won the Miss UNIMAK pageant, I was sent to represent my University at the AYV Miss University, where I won the Best Platform and the Best Business Presentation. For me, the AYV Miss University was more like an opportunity to reach where I am today”.

On April 26, 2024, Lachaeveh had the opportunity to compete with 8 other queens from various Universities across Sierra Leone in the Miss University, organised by the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown.

The annual pageantry event has become a much-anticipated event in the academic calendar of Universities in Sierra Leone. It provides opportunities for young women to showcase their talents and abilities while promoting unity among students from different Universities.

The event also serves as a reminder that education is a powerful tool that can be used to transform lives and contribute to national development.

Each year, the winners of the AYV Miss University take home a brand new car, represent Sierra Leone at the global stage in the Miss University Africa Pageant and secure a year’s work placement at the AYV Media Empire.

Before winning Miss Sierra Leone, Lachaeveh Alberta Caizarine Davies was reigning Queen of Miss University of Makeni (UniMak), Miss Goderich, Miss Western Area Ruraland Miss Freetown, respectively.

She was crowned Miss Sierra Leone 2025 on Tuesday, April 29, after competing against 15 other contestants from across Sierra Leone. The 1st Runner-Up title went to Miss Pujehun, Mariyam L. Konneh, while the 2nd Runner-Up title went to Miss Bombali, Lala B. Sidibe.

Fifteen contestants competed in the Miss Sierra Leone 2025 pageant, but after an intense round of eliminations, ten were knocked out, leaving the top five finalists: Miss Moyamba, Odia H. Tarawally; Miss Bombali, Lala B. Sidibe; Miss Western Area Rural, Lachaeveh A. K. Davies; Miss Pujehun, Mariyam L. Konneh; and Miss Koinadugu, Kosarow Kargbo.

Chairman of Miss Sierra Leone Limited, Dr. Adonis Abboud, described the 2025 pageant — from auditions to the grand finale — as free, fair, and credible, staying true to their longstanding tradition. He praised the contestants for their courage, brilliance, and beauty, noting that each young woman carried the pride of her district, the power of her personal journey, and a purpose that transcends traditional notions of beauty.

Janneh Amara Bangali, a Board Member of Miss Sierra Leone Limited, highlighted that the pageant upholds strict eligibility criteria every year, including district representation and, at times, surname considerations. She emphasised that the competition is not just about beauty but also about building resilience, focus, and poise among the contestants — qualities that are fostered through an intensive training and development program.
